Ellie’s Internship Reflection

Ellie’s Internship Reflection

It is hard to believe that my summer as the Integrated Marketing and Advertising Intern is coming to an end. My time here at Burkhart has been an amazing learning experience. But most importantly, this internship has helped reassure me that I am on the right career path, doing something I thoroughly enjoy and am excited to do every day.

My Internship Experience

When I came into my internship on the first day, I didn’t know I would benefit so much. As a soon-to-be senior in college, this was my first internship, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Right from the start, I instantly felt like I was a part of the team. Everyone here at Burkhart emphasized asking questions and giving my input. This made me feel like they genuinely wanted to help me succeed and gain as much knowledge as possible from this experience.

Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to sit in on numerous client meetings, tag along to a client video shoot, and give content ideas that were eventually implemented. I am so grateful for all of these experiences!

My Takeaways

As I wrap up my time here at Burkhart and reflect on the things I have learned and will use in my future career, my writing skills are the biggest thing I have improved upon during my time here. When coming into this internship, I knew my writing skills were something I wanted to expand on. With many opportunities to practice throughout the summer, I am happy to say I am more confident in my writing abilities.

I also gained a lot of knowledge with the software we used. Coming into this internship, my only experience was in Canva from classes I have taken at school. I look forward to adding my experience with Sprout, WordPress, and Asana to my professional resume.

Overall I am grateful for being able to expand my knowledge in the marketing industry. I acquired so much knowledge by helping with client work and attending client meetings this past summer.

Although I am sad that my time here at Burkhart is wrapping up, I am so grateful for this amazing opportunity. I am excited to bring the skills and knowledge I learned to Ball State as a finish to my college career and eventually transfer these skills to my professional career. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!
