Christmas at the Office

It’s finally December, and that means it’s finally socially acceptable to spread some Christmas cheer. Many people have had their trees up since Halloween, and many stores had decorations out even before that. It’s officially time to start celebrating Christmas (if you haven’t already).

Christmas can be celebrated anywhere, so why not at the office, too? #TeamBurkhart has put our heads together and come up with different ways to incorporate Christmas at the office. We even have some ideas for remote workers, too!

Elf on the Shelf

The Elf on the Shelf has made its way into the homes of many families. This year, bring it into the office. Have one person in charge of moving and setting up fun displays of your office elf stirring up some mischief. – This is a #TeamBurkhart favorite!

Office Decoration Contest

Have employees decorate their office door or cubicle and turn it into a contest. Set a day that decorations have to be done by and other employees can vote on who has the best decorations. The only rule is, don’t vote on your own. You should also include a prize for the winner or even first through third place.

Hot Chocolate Bar

One morning, set up a hot chocolate bar for everyone to enjoy. Bring in hot chocolate mix, mini marshmallows, crushed up candy canes and whipped creme to add a little fun. You could also encourage employees to bring in their favorite Christmas mug to use. Don’t forget a hot water source!

Give Back

The best part about the holidays is that it’s a great way to give back to those in need. Pick an organization for the company to support and take donations for the month. Also, set up a way for remote workers to drop items off, so they can be incorporated too!

Christmas Trivia

This is a great activity that everyone can do. Set up a time to do a zoom call one day and play some Christmas trivia. You can come up with fun questions to ask and even find some Christmas songs without the lyrics and see who can guess the tune.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest

Ugly Christmas sweater parties are a great way to get people in the Christmas spirit. Have a day where everyone wears the ugliest Christmas sweater/outfit they can come up with and have someone be the judge. Remote workers can even get involved; have them send in a photo of themselves in their sweater or outfit before the voting time ends.

Appreciation Day

Send out Christmas Cards to your employees and thank them for the hard work they have done all year. Employees will feel valued and love being recognized for their work. These cards can be ecards or sent through the mail.

Holiday Photo Booth

Set up a decorated area and backdrop for employees to take photos with. Take pictures of contest winners, headshots and any other fun photos with the backdrop. This could also be done on Zoom meetings. Ask that anyone in the meeting choose a fun holiday background to use through the meeting in a way to make the meeting more fun.

Of course, a lot of these options are more in-person activities but make sure to invite your remote workers to come in for the day if they feel comfortable enough to do so.

The possibilities are endless this Christmas. Read our previous Christmas blogs for more Christmas inspiration.
