Gillian’s Internship Experience

Gillian's Internship Experience

As the fall semester comes to a close, so does my internship here at Burkhart Marketing. Working as the Integrated Marketing and Advertising Intern has taught me so much about marketing and how an agency runs. As I reflect on my experience, I am so grateful to have had this opportunity.

My Internship Experience

As a senior in high school, this was my first internship! I wanted to intern at Burkhart Marketing so I could learn how a professional marketing agency operated. While interning at Burkhart, I have had the opportunity to sit in on meetings, collect data and analytics, write social posts and blogs, and create images.

Before interning at Burkhart, I had never worked with platforms like Sprout Social. This internship taught me how to use Sprout efficiently and navigate the platform. Now, I am more comfortable collecting data and scheduling social posts.

I have also never written a blog or social post before coming to Burkhart. Writing has never been one of my passions, so creating blogs and social posts challenged me to think of new topics to write about. Interning at Burkhart has taught me to be more creative when writing blogs.

I have always liked math-related subjects in school, so getting the opportunity to track and collect data for social media reports was really interesting. It was cool to see how followers engaged with posts and how Burkhart’s social media accounts performed that month.

Lessons I Learned

After only 3 months, I have gained so many new skills and learned so much about marketing and how agencies run. This internship has given me so much experience that I will be able to apply to future classes and jobs. I have loved interning at Burkhart. Everyone always made me feel so welcome and supported from day one. Thank you Burkhart for this opportunity!
