Web Design Trends of 2023

Web Design Trends of 2023

With the continuous, high speed rate new technology is being released and developed, web designs are changing right along with them. There are 5.16 billion total internet users which is 64.4% of the total population on our planet, making web design crucial for brands to stay up on. After extensive research, we have found two high priority trends that we project for this year and also two lower priority trends.

High Priority Trends

High priority trends are the most crucial trends to follow and should be put at the top of the list when considering what web design updates to take part in. The top two high priority trends that we project to be the most engaging to viewers are motion/animation and mobile-friendly design.

Motion/Animation

Motion in web design has many different sectors and characteristics. One motion web design characteristic that will be very prevalent in 2023 are animations triggered by scrolling. This also goes hand in hand with interactive additions to your website’s design. An example of scrolling animations would be when someone scrolls down your website, information will appear on the screen as they scroll down the page.

Interactive animations are a little different and would be activated when someone hovers over a video on the screen and it plays. This could also include being able to drag items around the screen and interact with the page information. Motion and animation in web design engages the audience and can lead them to call to actions to promote engagement and sales.

Mobile-Friendly

Around 60.9% of all website traffic comes from mobile devices, which has increased by 75% since 2015. Due to the rise in mobile website traffic, having a mobile-friendly website is crucial to brands. Some characteristics of a good mobile-friendly website are quick response times, easily readable text, call to action banner across the bottom of the screen and eye-catching animations. A few spectacular mobile-friendly websites that possess all of these characteristics and more are Chobani, Cheetos and Warby Parker.

Lower Priority Tends

Lower priority trends are still important and should be looked at and used when appropriate, however they are not as urgent as the trends mentioned above. These trends are projected to be big in 2023 but will continue to grow over the next couple of years, so they are put on a lower podium. The top two lower priority trends that we project to be the most engaging to viewers are personalized content and chatbots.

Personalized Content

Personalized content has been used for years, but a spike and transition of this trend is projected for 2023. There is new technology constantly being produced offering new and improved ways to utilize personalized content. An example of how this trend will be used in 2023 is when someone goes to a furniture website searching for bed frames and the current homepage consists of many different kinds of sofas. The consumer searches for bed frames in the search bar, and then the next time they visit the homepage of this website, pictures of different bed frames now fill the home page.

Chatbots

It’s projected that the total number of chatbots accessed globally will increase by 169% over the next few years. There are many actions that a chatbot can perform like accepting payments, virtual interviews and creating a bridge between different languages. Chatbots are also particularly helpful to businesses that receive a lot of consistent leads because it acts as virtual manpower. There are also ways to program a chatbot to have empathetic, human-like responses by using the Natural Language Process (NLP) which can help boost customer service.

Consistently Update Your Websites Design Depending on Trends

It’s beneficial to make changes to a website, big or small, at least once a year due to the ever changing trends of web design. There is always new technology coming out to improve user experience (UX) that brands should continue taking advantage of. Utilizing the new trends and UX will improve website traffic and company growth and engagement.
